SOME STOTTESDON WILLS AND ADMINISTRATIONS

Stottesdon is a large rural parish to the north-west of Cleobury Mortimer in south-east Shropshire.  There is a considerable number of 'townships' which must have grown from the farms established in each place.  A section of the parish, known as Farlow, was originally in Herefordshire.   I have transcribed the parish registers from 1565-1813.   

The Wills or Administrations noted below do not form an exhaustive list, but the names represent some of the chief farming families that flourished in Stottesdon in earlier centuries.  Stottesdon is in the Diocese of Hereford, so most of these Wills are to be found at Hereford Record Office.   Some, though, were proved in London. 

The second column lists the farm, township, or area of the person named.  The date in the final column is the year when the Will was proved or Administration granted.   I have copies, transcriptions or details of beneficiaries of all these Wills.
