Genealogical Research and Document Searches.
I will undertake genealogical and local history research commissions, or document transcriptions. I can perform specific searches in my wide collection of personal indexes and transcriptions for families or individuals.
Charges for searches in my indexes are listed below. For ad hoc research I charge an hourly rate of £17 per hour for commissions of up to three hours work, and £15 per hour for every hour beyond three.
I do not charge for travel, or the time travelling. Copying costs are extra.
I accept payments by Pay Pal (used by most people overseas), cheque, bank draft/transfer.
Searches in my Indexes:
Wills and Administrations (Herford Diocese - nearly 22,000 Probate Grants; Lichfield Diocese - nearly 5000 Probate Grants). This must be one of my most useful Indexes, as it covers the whole of the northern part of the Diocese of Hereford, i.e. about half of Shropshire, some easterly parishes in Montgomeryshire and much of north-west Worcestershire. Block extractions of particular surnames by negotiation. Search for an individual £2.
South Shropshire Marriage Index and South Shropshire Marriage Licence Index (both together - about 55,000 entries searched). A basic non-returnable £3 for a search of up to 5 entries. For additional entries (up to 50) 20 pence each. By negotiation for a number more than 50.
Shropshire People Index (55,000 individuals), often linked in tentative family trees. A basic non-returnable search fee of £3 for any individual, including presumed links to other members of the family. An additional £3 for each extra individual.
Church Court Indexes (many thousands of cases and individuals pre 1750 from Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire). A basic non-returnable search fee of £3 for any 3 individuals. £1 each for other individuals.
Unpublished Parish Registers. Basic non-returnable £3 per family for each parish. All references to one surname supplied (you could hit the jackpot with some names!)
Searches in all other Indexes lumped together (e.g. Hearth Tax, Muster Rolls, Association Roll, Cleobury Mortimer Vicar's Book). Basic non-returnable £5 per individual.
